Malta Maritime Authority Act (CAP. 352) Gozo Passenger and Goods Service (Fares) Regulations,2004

In exercise of the powers conferred by article 28(aa) of the Malta Maritime Authority Act, the Minister for Competitiveness and Communications, in consultation with the Malta Maritime Authority has made the following regulations:-

 

 
CITATION AND COMMENCEMENT  
  The title of these regulations is the Gozo Passenger and Goods Service (Fares) Regulations, 2004. The regulations shall come into force on the 1st June, 2004

 

PASSENGER AND VEHICLE FARES  
 
The fares payable by passengers and vehicles for the journey from Cirkewwa or Sa Maison, Malta to Mgarr, Gozo, or vice-versa, shall be those shown in the First Schedule of these regulations. The fares payable in respect to any incentive scheme for the journey from Cirkewwa, Malta, to Mgarr, Gozo, vice-versa, shall be those in the Second and Third Schedules to these regulations.

 

COMMERCIAL VEHICLE FARES  
 
The fares payable on commercial and/or other vehicles falling within the parameters given in the Fourth Schedule to these regulations for the journey from Cirkewwa or Sa Maison, Malta to Mgarr, Gozo, or vice-versa, shall be those shown in the said Schedule.

 

IDENTITY OF GOZO RESIDENT AND SENIOR CITIZEN  
 
A commuter may be requested to produce his identity card or "Karta Anzjan" at the time of the issuing of the ticket or at any other time of boarding the vessel or of the trip so as to establish his identity as a Gozo resident or senior citizen respectively

 

PRODUCTION OF TICKET  
 


A commuter may be requested to produce his ticket, on demand by an authorised officer, in order to check and inspect the tickets and their validity, and the entitlement thereof in the case of subsidised fares, both before boarding the vessel and, or on board the said vessel:

Provided that for the purposes of these regulations, an authorised officer shall mean an officer of the ferry operator so contracted by Government to carry out these services or a public official so appointed by the Ministry for Competitiveness and Communications.

 

COMMERCIAL LOADS  
 
Loads on commercial vehicles are not to exceed the registered capacity of the vehicle and/or an axle-weight in excess of 13 tons.

 

REVOCATION OF L.N. 13 of 1997  
 


The Gozo Mail and Passenger Service (Fares) Regulations, 1997, are hereby revoked.
