GOZO CHANNEL DONATES EQUIPMENT TO GOZO GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gozo Channel Co Ltd has recently presented a sponsorship to the Gozo General Hospital for the acquisition of equipment for the treatment of patients with kidney disease or malfunction. The equipment includes four dialysis units and two reverse osmosis units which produce treated water to be used during the treatment of patients.
After signing the agreement for the purchase of these units, the Hon Giovanna Debono, Minister for Gozo thanked Gozo Channel Chairman Mr John E. Sullivan for the company’s generosity and stated that “this charitable act not only shows Gozo Channel’s interest in the growth of Gozo’s economic growth but also the company’s interest in the social and cultural growth of the island.”
Giving details about the equipment, Minister Debono said that “the units will be used by those patients suffering from renal diseases or malfunctions who will need to visit the hospital three times a week for sessions as long as four hours in duration. At present, Gozitan patients in need of such treatment had to travel to Malta but as soon as these units are installed in a few months time, they will no longer need to cross over to Malta.
