Gozo Channels' new buildings - the M.V. Ta' Pinu, M. V. Gaudos and M.V. Malita conform to the highest safety standards and regulations, including the recent SOLAS requirements (International Convention for Safety of Life at Sea). Crews are trained in all emergency procedures, and in the unlikely event of an emergency, the crew will immediately instigate the necessary safety routines.

At every departure, safety announcements are presented over the PA Systems. Aboard one will find more information at all relevant places. Brochures and boards give information about safety matters. One is also welcome to inquire for any further information from the Customer Service Officers, onboard or ashore.

At Gozo Channel, safety is our highest priority. We meet or exceed all industry standards, from vessel design and operation to crew training and emergency equipment. To further consolidate its commitment towards training of the crews and safety, the Company, in conjunction with the Maritime Institute, is continually organising a number of courses to ensure that all the members of its crew will be in possession of the appropriate STWC certification in Basic Sea Survival, Fire Fighting and First Aid. It is also organises Crowd Control courses for its Officers and crew, in order to ensure compliance with all STCW requirements.

As part of our continuing commitment to safety, we ask that passengers note the following information:

Emergency Procedures

Gozo Channel ships are well equipped for safety and the crew is well trained in emergency procedures. The Company recommends that passengers familiarize themselves with the location and use of lifejackets and other emergency facilities. Complete lifesaving information is posted prominently through the vessels. In the event of an emergency, one must be alert to announcements and warning bells or whistles and always follow the instructions of the crew. Remember to avoid using elevators and vehicle decks during an emergency unless otherwise instructed.

Life Saving Equipment
On board the Company's vessels there is an abundant supply of life jackets in both adult and child sizes. In addition, there are life rafts and rescue boats which are used in conjunction with marine emergency evacuation slides (MES) that ensure ample capacity for all on board.

First Aid/Medical Assistance
As part of the Company's commitment to quality service and customer convenience, we maintain First-Aid facilities that are adequately equipped and a crew complement that is trained in basic First Aid and CPR. Selected members of our crew are also trained in advanced First Aid. Should one require assistance, please notify any member of the crew.

Fire Protection
Fire and smoke detectors, along with portable fire extinguishers, are located throughout the ship, with extinguishing systems installed in all areas.

Access to Vehicle Decks
Passengers are not recommended to remain in their vehicles during the crossing unless with the prior approval of the Master..

Smoking
Smoking on the Company's vessels is strictly prohibited. One's cooperation will be appreciated.

Air Quality
While waiting to unload, drivers are requested not to start their engines until directed to do so by Company personnel, or until traffic ahead has begun to disembark. This will help keep exhaust emissions on the vehicle decks to a minimum as fumes from idling engines can quickly accumulate during the unloading process.

For the Motorcyclist
Motorcyclists must use caution when driving on the approach ramps and vehicle decks. Drivers should be alert to possible slippery surface, securing pads and other equipment located on vehicle decks. Motorcycle drivers are responsible for securing their own machines.

Driver responsibility
Drivers are ultimately responsible for the safe operation of their vehicle. Please follow the directions of traffic directors and spotters when instructed.

Moving about the vessel
Passengers should be aware that in order to meet the highest standards for vessel safety, certain requirements such as raised door sill and automatic doors may pose a challenge for some passengers. Passengers should be alert to possible rolling and pitching of the vessel during a voyage.

Pets
Pets must be leashed or kept in pet containers. Pets are not allowed in lounge/cafeteria/lobby areas not even on counters, seats, or benches. All pet owners are responsible for any and all actions of animals. Please be considerate of others and clean up after your pet.

Your cooperation and compliance with safety requirements will ensure that your voyage will be an enjoyable experience. Meanwhile, we wish you a safe and most pleasant voyage with Gozo Channel. All vehicles transported at vehicle rates must at all times be accompanied by the driver, who must drive the vehicle on and off the vessel. Gozo Channel is not responsible for any damage to such vehicles that occurs while they are loaded, unloaded, or in transport. All valuable articles should be locked in the trunk. Gozo Channel is not responsible for any articles left in vehicles or on board vessels.

WE WISH YOU A SAFE AND MOST PLEASANT VOYAGE WITH GOZO CHANNEL.
