Gozo Channel's Safety Management System has been developed to provide concise guidance and instruction on safe ship operation and pollution prevention, together with guidance on maintaining the condition of vessels and equipment to conform with the provisions of relevant statutory and classification rules and regulations.

Management recognises that accidents can be prevented by proper planning and execution of operations. It is realised that the quality of management systems can influence the competence, attitude and motivation of staff, all of which are decisive factors in safe operation and pollution prevention.

The Company's SMS has been developed and implemented in order to provide a system which:

• ensures compliance with safety, environmental and quality policy;
  
  
• through adequate documentation and record keeping, proves that all
  necessary safety, environmental and quality standards are being met;
  
  
• demonstrates to Company personnel that safety, environmental and quality
  standards are being maintained;
